Happiest of Mondays

My day started off with a package from the talented, hilarious & poopin’ (PEW-pin) Kate Diago. Her attention to detail & creativity makes my heart smile. Big grin in place I kicked on the ol’ macbook & took a glance at twitter…damn you FreePeople blogger! Get out of my head & outta my wallet! (Extreme-O-Shopping-Ban still on!) Then it was down to business » Searching for photogs for the KISS! I was somewhat successful, but in my huntings I came across this:

Maybe not EXACTLY what these guys are looking for, but I like it. You can find more here. The weekend was grand & I’m looking forward to a wonderful week. xx

ps. Kate, could you make us pairs of flowery glasses?!?!!! For days when we’re not wearing these. :)

Project 01: Entry, Pt 2

What a difference a little paint makes. I’ve finished the floor and I couldn’t be happier. No more disgusting, icky entryway carpeting - only clean, beautiful, shiny black wood floors! I’ve almost forgotten how awful it was before. The black floor adds new charm to our humble home and I learned a couple things along the way! Bring on project #2 ;)

Washing, sanding, vacuuming and taping off the edges.

A couple coats of primer.

My project beverage of choice? Sangria! While painting the edges :)

A couple coats of high gloss black :)

And VOILA! It looks like this the next morning.

I also painted the carpet trim black and used dark color screws to complete the look.

Free People Hates Me

And my shopping ban. My extreme-o shopping ban kicked off August 1st. Just to remind you I’ll be: Eating out once/week, drinking out once/week, no clothes, no shoes, no extras FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF AUGUST!! I don’t know if I can do this…especially with a rad bag like this out there. I’ve been wanting a new bag for work, this really would be so perfect…aaaaand it would be for work… :)

Project 01: Entry

Happy Monday all. Saturday was PROJECT! Day at Apt 405. Ripping up carpet, padding, staples, nails, scraping, sanding, washing, scrubbing… The wood floors weren’t white as you can see (just the corner I had pulled up I guess) - I love the raw wood, but I think the next step is to paint the space high gloss black. Black wood floors are edgy & I think it’ll give the room a nice touch of contrast. Let’s get get back to Saturday:

At this point Rox & I took a little break from cleaning to go pick up the carpet trim from Home Depot & look for a rug at Urban Outfitters. The trim is oak & Home Depot associate Chris was happy to help me cut it down to the two sizes I needed.

I LOVE IT! A couple hours of work in the morning & a couple hours when I got back from shopping - TAHDAH! The space feels fresh, clean & a little more like home. What do you think?

PROJECT!

A few posts ago I mentioned wanting to revamp my apartment. Well friends, I’ve picked my first project!! BUT FIRST a little background: I’ve lived in a bachelor apartment in Franklin Village for about a year & a half - I love the space & I love the neighborhood « (Google street view!). It’s carpeted with only one door for entering/exiting so it gets VERY dirty VERY quickly. I’d been thinking about floating cork flooring in the small space of 3’ x 4’ish AND THEN I pulled up a corner of the carpeting - there are white wood floors underneath!! AWESOME. In that moment I decided to cut out that portion of carpeting, clean up the floors reeeeeal good & cover it with a Navajo runner rug!! Genius, I know. Photos soon to follow.
